Dr. Aneesh V. Pillai is a Faculty of Law at School of Legal Studies, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kerala. Prior to joining SLS he has worked as a faculty of law in Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. He has been awarded the prestigious “Distinguished Young Faculty Award, 2017-18” from Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala. He is the recipient of prestigious Prof. (Dr.) A. T. Marcose Memorial Gold Medal from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) for securing First Rank in LLM. He is also the winner of K. C. Menon Memorial Gold Medal for the Best Student in LLM in the year 2008 from CUSAT, Kerala. He is also the recipient of a Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) from the Mediterranea International Centre for Human Rights Research, Italy. He is also serving as the position of ‘Visiting Professor’ at Department of Law, Dhaka International University, Bangladesh.
He is the author of books titled Surrogate Motherhood and the Law; The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and Rules (Central & Kerala) with Allied Laws and editor of books titled Short Notes on Competition Law in India; Cyber Laws: Issues and Concerns; and Shaded Justice and Rights; Secularism and Freedom of Religion; etc. He has participated in numerous international and national conferences, workshops and training programmes including the IUCN Funded Train – the Trainers Program, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka; International Conference held at Dhaka International University, Bangladesh; International Summer School jointly organised by Bahcesehir Cyprus University, University of Sarajevo and Pravnik Association Sarajevo, Turkey; and International Training Workshop organised by Xiamen University Center for Oceans Law and the China Seas, China; Second IPIRA Conference held at the University of Indonesia, Indonesia; IUCN Annual Colloquium at University of Groningen, Netherlands; IASJ Symposium organised by the College of Law Business, Ramat Gan, Israel; ACS Constitutional Law Scholars Forum organised by the Barry Law School and Texas A&M University, School of Law, USA; International Consumer Protection Conference held at University of Pretoria, South Africa; International Scientific Conference held at Binh Doung University, Vietnam; Fifth IPIRA Conference held at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; etc. He has delivered several invited lectures at institutions in and outside India including the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh; Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia; National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, Taiwan; Federal University of Bahia, Brazil; etc.
Dr. Aneesh has a rich experience of adjudging oral rounds/memorials for different prestigious national and international moot court competitions such as Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition organised by Stetson University College of Law, Florida; Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition organised by ISLA; Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition organised by Washington School of Law, American University; International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition organised by Grotius Centre, Leiden University, Netherlands; Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot, organised by Centre for International Legal Studies, Austria; Stetson National Round; Jessup National Round; Anti-Trust Moot Court Competition; etc. Dr. Aneesh has also created moot court problems pertaining to the issues of Competition Law; International Law; Environmental Law and Human Rights for different national level moot court competitions in India.
