Dr. Upankar Chutia is an Assistant Professor at Alliance School of Law, Alliance University, Bengaluru. He is the Director of Alliance University's Alliance Centre for Intellectual Property Rights (ACIPR). In addition, he is an active member of the Alliance University Legal Aid Society and Alliance University MUNSoc. He received his Ph.D. in Intellectual Property Rights (Law) from Amity Law School, Amity University in Delhi NCR. He holds a L.L.M. degree from Symbiosis Law School in Pune, as well as a Bachelor of Laws from Bangalore University. He had Judged several prestigious National and International Moot court competitions, namely the Philip C. Jessup, International Law Moot Court Competition, and also chaired the technical sessions of International and National Conferences and Seminars. He has also been awarded the Best Research Paper Presenter and Best Researcher awards at various conferences and seminars.
He has contributed to various books and blogs in the legal domain. Additionally, he has also authored various research papers and articles on the contemporary issues faced by the IP community and other areas of law, globally. Furthermore, he has presented research papers at numerous national and international forums, conferences, and events. He has also served on several Editorial Boards for well-known publications in both International and National journals in diverse legal areas. His area of research interest is Intellectual Property Rights.
